2010 Charities
Two charities have been selected for donations, allowing us to more fully address the needs of the entire AWHONN target population.
- Montreal Diet Dispensary: Each year, the Montreal Diet Dispensary (MDD) provides nutrition and moral support to 2,000 women in need during pregnancy and the first months after birth. The mission of the MDD is to promote health in the community and in particular among pregnant mothers whose babies are at risk. The objectives of the MDD are to: a) reduce the number of low birth weight infants born to disadvantaged mothers; b) promote and support breastfeeding; c) empower mothers to take charge of their physical and mental well-being, as well as that of their family's, while also fostering their integration into society.
- The Centre de santé des femmes de Montréal: The Women's Health Centre of Montreal (CSFM) is an independent community organization composed of women working in gynecological health. The mission of the CSFM includes three main components: (i) Promote women’s autonomy over their gynecological health; (ii) Defend and promote women’s rights to free abortion; (iii) Represent women and advocate for their rights and freedoms before economic and political decision makers as well as those from the health care system.
